A New Direction - Sir Ken Robinson

A New Direction is the 'Bridge' that offers access to 'Powerful Ways for all Young Londoners to Access the Best of The Arts Culture'

A New Direction

Sir Ken's Video on Creative Learning and Cultural Education.  Sir Ken endorsing 'A New Direction' magazine
Don't push out English Baccalaureate, warns Sir Ken Robinson

Sir Ken motivates me on Creative and Cultural Education, the more I hear his thoughts and findings the more I wish to join the movement to make a change in the Education system world wide.  I need to develop how I apply my intelligence to this movement.

I found a very interesting method of teaching called the Reggio Emilia which could be the basis to a new Education curriculum being discussed in Sir Ken's video.

I would really like to hear some of your thoughts as this is relevant to most of us who wish to work in Education and apply our Art, whether at a physical level or changing people's misconception of creativity.

New Year, New learnings

New Year,  new learning's, for me it's not just module 2..

I'm quite excited about my new Mac Pro lap top (no bragging intended) it's a whole new language, I'm having 1 to 1 tutoring and am using it on a daily basis, making sure I've connected  to my blackberry etc. The advancement of technology is astonishing, the new applications available will make our lives much easier and seem to be less complicated to find your way around.  I have found a hunger for new technology. I'm turning into a technology geekette!  .... But I haven't lost sight of what I love the most, I'm about to refresh my contemporary dance technique by attending classes again, it's been years since I had a class, this excites me to the core....

My last teaching job changed my perspective on the education system and listening to Sir Ken Robinson's video link on Adesola's blog page (it's well worth listening to) really hit a nerve with me and what I experienced last term in school. Children are being forced into I believe,  unnatural condition of learning world wide and Sir Ken goes on to explain about conditioning in other countries.  It is up to us as Artistes to educate people about the benefits of self expression, it makes our lives so so rich and fulfilling to connect with our natural selves, life and the rhythms of the universe...

I am also having fun with another new toy I received for Christmas, a remote control gyro-copter.. Getting to grips with the controls to make it hover off the ground and steer it around the house is horrendously amusing, especially when there are other gyro-copters hovering around too.. I must take it outside!! No matter how old you get we are all still children at heart...
But I guess I need to focus this year on what I want to achieve to move forward in my life.  Apparently this is the year to make it happen.
For my BAPP course my anxiety is about my inquiry.  Too many questions that I'm not able to narrow down.  I truly need to focus on this..

What are your thoughts on our education system and lack of expressive arts in our lives?
